Background: Kathleen M. Scanlon is an experienced litigator and advocate representing clients in a broad-range of business disputes, insurance coverage matters and professional responsibility issues. Ms. Scanlon possesses unique experience and expertise in arbitration, mediation and court-related proceedings.
Prior to founding her own law firm, Ms. Scanlon was Special Counsel at Heller Ehrman where she co-founded the International Arbitration and ADR practice area. Ms. Scanlon received her early training in the Litigation Group at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett where she represented clients in all phases of complex commercial litigation. Ms. Scanlon clerked for the Honorable Louis L. Stanton in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Ms. Scanlon serves as Special Counsel to the internationally renowned CPR Institute for Dispute Resolution (New York, NY), a coalition of leading general counsel and law firms, where she spearheads projects on Directors and Officers Liability Insurance, drafting of administered arbitration rules and launching of the 21st Century Corporate Pledge. Prior to being affiliated with CPR as Special Counsel, Ms. Scanlon was a Senior Vice President and Director of Public Policy and served as staff director for the revision of the CPR Arbitration Rules, the CPR Patent Commission and the CPR-Georgetown Commission on Ethics and Standards in ADR.
Ms. Scanlon is a long-standing adjunct Associate Professor of Law at Fordham Law School where she teaches International Arbitration, ADR and Professional Responsibility courses. Ms. Scanlon is affiliated with the Feerick Center for Social Justice and has been involved with projects in Ghana and the Archdiocese of New York City.
Ms. Scanlon also serves as a neutral and is named on the CPR Panel of Distinguished Neutrals.
